Hello, we are Sago NMG Co., Ltd.

Our Stem Brand between Sago and Seed in price have started Ove5 and JMB5 that is our original 5 Strings Bass Model.
And our Classic Style JB4 and JB5, our standard JazzBass models, are also making their debut from Stem.

With demand for 5-string basses on the rise, we’ve expanded the Stem lineup to make high-quality instruments more accessible!
We will introduce them in detail.

1.Features common to all models

Stem keeps its basic specifications consistent and outsources woodworking to partner factories for mass production, thereby achieving reasonable prices.

We also offer a custom color order system, allowing you to choose your preferred color and pickguard from Sago’s standard colors, wrap finishes, and Shin Lacquer’s aged finishes.

As with the Sago models, each instrument is set up and inspected at our factory and we are confident in every single one we deliver.

2.Differences between the models

・Body Shape

The traditional style JB offers familiar playability and a comfortable fit.

Ove is lighter than the JB and offers better access to the higher frets, enhancing playability.

To prevent the head from falling off, the JMB features a slightly extended strap attachment point.
This distinctive design makes it one of our most popular models.

JB / Ove: L(x) JB Lite as general JazzBass Style

JMB: Sagoオリジナル設計のPBのコイルを斜めに配置したJ(x) JMB Lite

The L(x) Lite series pickups used in Stem are mass-produced at partner factories overseas based on pickup designs developed in-house by Sago.

The JB and Ove models feature the same pickup, delivering the same powerful, crisp sound as the Sago model.
Since the specifications other than the pickup differ, the sound character varies even among these JazzBass style models, so be sure to try them out and compare them for yourself.

JMB’s pickups feature a proprietary design that delivers more powerful in the midrange than standard Precision Bass pickups.

And with two PU pickups, it delivers a rich, full-bodied sound with great clarity, so you can count on it to both support the ensemble and make a strong statement.

・Controls

JB / JMB : 2 Volume, 1 Tone

JB and JMB are the familiar controls found on JazzBass style model.

Ove: 1 Volume, Balancer, 1 Tone, SW(Series/Parallel)

Since Ove is 1 Volume & Balancer, it allows you to control the volume at any desired balance, making it very user friendly.
Additionally, by switching from parallel to series configuration via the SW (Series/Parallel) switch, the bass becomes richer and more powerful.
It is possible to make various sound with SW by passive system.

3.Aged Finish

Our recommended painting is Aged Finish now!

Our American staff Mr. Eliezer Tryee , uses the advanced techniques he honed in the U.S. to give your items a stylish aged finish!

There are three types of Aged Finishes.
“Aged” (+30,000 yen), with minor peeling on the contour and back surfaces.

“Heavy Aged ” (+40,000 yen), in addition to the sides and back, this also has peeling around the bridge and jack.

“Super Heavy Aged” (+50,000 yen), featuring extensive peeling across a large area.

※You can choose the Aged Finish when the paint is Shin Lacquer.
※You cannot specify the design of the aged finish; please leave it to the artisan’s discretion.

While aged finishes are often associated with high-end models, you can get one at a reasonable price from the Stem brand—though there is additional charge.

4.Wrap Painting “Naked”

The wrap finish you know and love from Sago is also available under the Stem brand.
The wrap paint job on the Stem is called “Wrap Naked” (+10,000 yen), which intentionally leaves the texture of the wrap visible to create a dynamic design.

We’ve created many distinctive color schemes in the past, such as for our artist models, so please use the color pages as a guide to find the look that suits you best.

6.Price and Delivery Time

Price starts at 250,000 yen (without tax) for the 4-Strings Bass Models, Sonia of guitar.
And price starts at 260,000 yen (without tax) the 5-Strings Bass Model for the 5-Strings Bass Models.

The delivery time is around 3 months from the date of order, but this may be subject to change depending on production schedules.
