ACE BASS is produced by Akirakani Akira that is bassist of THE ORAL CIGARETTS.

Pre-orders of 4-string bass model: AB-4 STD produced in 2027 will begin from 2026/8/24(Mon)12:00～.

In addition, we will be releasing a limited-edition model featuring a black color with gold parts and gold logo as part of this production run, available in limited quantities.

We will introduce this model for the beginner of the bass.

1.ACE BASS

ACE BASS is a brand founded by Akira kani Akira out of a desire to “reintroduce the appeal of the electric bass to a wider audience in a world where digital music sources are becoming increasingly prevalent.”
The AB-4 STD was created as an affordable 4-string bass that clearly inherits the look and playability of the AB-5 PRO that Akira uses on stage.

At Sago, just like with our Seed products, we handle the manufacturing, inspection, and shipping of the AB-4 STD, and we carefully set up each one individually, so you can play with confidence.

2.Play ability

If you’re just starting out on the bass, the first thing you should look for when choosing your first instrument is playability.

Among these, the neck is the part you touch the most, so you’ll want to choose it carefully to make sure it fits your hand well.

Maple is adapted for both the neck and the fingerboard.
Maple is strong enough to withstand the tension of bass strings, making it a standard choice for bass necks.
Using maple for the fingerboard also produces a bright tone and clear articulation.

In addition, the control section for adjusting the bass volume and tone consists of 1 Volume, Blender, and 1 Tone.

Most standard JazzBasses have a 2-volume, 1-tone configuration, so it can be a little tricky because you have to adjust both volume knobs when you want to turn the volume down.

1Volume in Blender, you can control the volume with a single volume knob while maintaining any pickup balance you choose.

Blender is a control that adjusts the balance between the two pickups. Basically, you set it to the center position so that both the neck and bridge pickups are active.

If you want a round, mellow tone, you can shift the balance toward the neck pickup, and if you want a crisp, punchy sound, you can shift it toward the bridge pickup, giving you a wide range of options for shaping your sound.

The Tone control is set to full by default; turning it down will mellow out the high frequencies. Use the Tone control to adjust the sound when you want a milder tone or if you find the harshness of newly installed bass strings bothersome.

In addition, the wide cutaway and 22-fret design allow for greater access to the higher frets, making it easier to play bass solos and chord progressions in the higher register.

It should be noted that the AB-4 was designed with intense live performances in mind, and one of its features is that the bass itself is relatively lightweight.

3.Sound

The next thing to consider about a musical instrument is its sound.

Among the various factors, the type of wood has a significant impact on the instrument’s tonal character.

The poplar used for the body offers a well-balanced tone and produces a natural sound.

Also, as I mentioned earlier when discussing the neck, a maple fingerboard produces a bright tone with clear articulation.
For entry-level models, it is important that the rhythm, playing style, and other aspects of the performance are easy to discern, which is why these types of wood are chosen.

On an electric bass, the pickups also play a major role in determining the sound character.

Pickups are components similar to microphones; their role is to pick up the vibrations of the bass strings and convert them into electrical signals that are then amplified.

The AB-4 STD is mounted with two jazz bass-style pickups that deliver a well-balanced output ranging from the low to high frequencies required for a bass guitar.
This combination results in a sound character with a clear bassline and a distinct, crisp sound.

4.Visual

When it comes to musical instruments, the one thing I really care about is, of course, their appearance.

And in the world of rock, there’s the “Black x Gold” limited edition, featuring a classic black body paired with gold parts.

There are 3 color models.

The body has a satin finish, giving it a smooth, silky feel.

We really want anyone who’s just starting out on bass—or anyone who’s been interested in the “AB-5 PRO” but hasn’t quite taken the plunge yet—to give it a try at least once.

6.Message from AkirakaniAkira

ACE BASS, a project we began conceptualizing in 2020, has gradually taken shape thanks to the people we’ve met and the support we’ve received.
And now, in 2027.
We are truly delighted to be able to present this new ACE BASS to you all.

Through repeated discussions with the workshop that would bring my vision to life, and by addressing every minor issue one by one, I pursued the instrument that would make me think, “I want to play this.”

People who want to start playing bass but don’t know what to choose.

People who feel their current bass isn’t quite enough.

People who want to enjoy music in a way that’s more true to themselves.

I would be delighted if this ACE BASS could naturally become a trusted companion in the hands of each and every one of you.
To me, the bass isn’t just a tool for making music—it’s something that brings people together.

I hope that one day, I’ll be able to play alongside you—who now owns this bass—on the same stage, sharing the same view.

That has been my biggest dream since 2020, and it hasn’t changed.
